Ward Christmas Party

She actually asked me to take a picture of her in front of the pinata.

Smirky smile

Instead of Santa they had the three wise men, Kenzie would not smile for anything.

Our only family picture from the whole year I think. Man I am failing as the family photographer :)

Before the party...
The head band didn't last long as you can see in the other pictures.

Kenzie and her friend at the Christmas Party

This is my mad face!

Here are some pictures from our ward Christmas party. It was very fun and we had delicious mexican food for dinner.

Annual City of Surprise Party

The first weekend in December is the Annual City of Surprise party. We saw the hot airballoon and tree lighting on Friday night. On Saturday Makenzie got to ride on an elephant, a camel, a pony and a train. She also got to pet lots of animals. It was overcast and really cold that day so we all had to bundle up on the jackets.

Elephant Ride

How many people can you fit on one elephant? . . . 6 . . . barely!

This turtle was just walking around in the grass so we deciede to get a picture with him.

Me: "Touch the snake Kenzie"
Kenzie: . . . No comment . . .

She alomst touched it until it turned its head and started slithering toward her then she freaked out. I guess I don't blame her.

Kenzie and the huge turtle or tortoise don't know the difference.

Yikes!

Big colorful Birds

I just love this attempt at a smile

Baby Kangaroo

Look mom Birds!

Wooo Hooo Train Ride First big smile of the day!

Pony Ride great smile . . . don't look too happy

Last year they let us walk next to the kids as they were riding the ponies. This year they didn't but Kenzie didn't seem to mind.

There was a bubble machine that blew out thousonds of bubbles so the kids had fun chasing and popping bubbles.

Nice Chicken

The petting zoo

She really was having fun on the camel ride . . . she just would NOT smile

There's that smile

Waiting in line to ride the camel

I told her it was a baby snake so then she was fine holding it and it looked like a baby compared to the other snakes she saw.

DIY Snow Flake Tutorial

Every Christmas my family likes to make these snowflakes to decorate with. They are fun and east to make. This is just a plain white one. We do all different colors and use glitter sometimes too. Using a Christmas scrapbook paper would be fun too!

Supplies:

1. 6 Square papers (card stock works the best. I took an 8 1/2 by 11 inch card stock paper and cut it into a square.)
2. Scissors

3. Stapler

4. Clear Tape

Here are the 6 square papers (they need to be all the same size).

Fold the square papers in half so it forms a triange like above. Then fold them in half again to make a smaller triangle.

Cut 3 slits that in the folded triangle leaving about 1/4 inch from the edge of the paper. The slits should be parallel to the LONGEST side of the triangle. Try to make each slit the same width apart.

Open the paper and this is what it should look like . . . if not you did something wrong :)

Starting with the inside of the square, pull the 2 smalles corners together till they overlap a little and tape them ... like shown.

Flip the paper over and tape the next corners together on the opposite side.

Continue alternating sides for the last 2 corners so it looks like the next picture.

(Sorry its kind of hard to describe in words)

Do all 6 papers this way.

Staple 2 of the snowfalke points together. ***On each snowflake point one side is bigger than the other. So staple the BIG side of one to the SMALL side of the other.

Add one more so you have three. (Notice how the big sides are stapled to the small sides)

Staple the 3 points together.

Now do the same thing to the last 3 points ..... Getting close to being done!

Lastly, Staple the 2 pieces together.

1st in the middle of the snowflake and then the 2 sides so it looks like this! Your Done!

I put the snowflake next to an 8 1/2 by 11 in paper to show the size of the snowflake.

Dora's Halloween

Popcorn glove

Well it's the night before Halloween and we have already been to 2 ward Halloween parties and a community Halloween party. Makenzie is getting some good use out of her costume. She is Ariel A.K.A The Little Mermaid this year even though she doesn't even know who that is and refused to watch the movie when given a chance. I put make up on her for the community party and for both ward parties decided to use face paint instead. The face paint stayed a lot better although it was a lot more work. I thought it was pretty cute, Brett hated the make up but said the face paint looked a little better... :)
